DIVISIONS

DIVISIONS – AGES: Which age bracket is appropriate for my team?

We will match up teams as evenly as possible. Teams will play in the division of their oldest player.

DIVISIONS – AGES: How are the divisions broken up?

Teams are matched into divisions according to age, height and playing experience of all players.

DIVISIONS – BREAKDOWN: How many divisions are there?

Most divisions will have between 10-16 teams.

DIVISIONS – GOALS: Will my team play on 8 ft or 10 ft goals?

Ages 10 and older play on normal 10ft goal. 10 and under play on 8ft goals.

REGISTRATION

REGISTRATION – START: How do I register for this tournament?

You may register online at www.louisvillehoopfest.com

REGISTRATION – START: I went through the team registration but did not complete the payment part. Is my team registered for the event?

No. You must complete both steps 1 and 2. Part 1 is submitting team form. Part 2 is the payment. You
must complete both parts. You will receive payment confirmation via email to confirm your registration is complete.

REGISTRATION – COST: How much does it cost to register to play in the tournament?

A non- refundable entry fee of $120 OR a $30 deposit must accompany your entry form. We accept all major credits cards online via Paypal.

REGISTRATION – TEAM/ INDIVIDUAL: What’s the difference between paying the $120 online and the $30 deposit?

Teams who pay $120 get t-shirts included in their registration. Teams who pay the $30 deposit pay the remaining balance in person the day of the tournament.

REGISTRATION – TEAM/ INDIVIDUAL: What is the difference between Team and Individual registration?

Team registration is for full teams and individual registration is for players who need to be put on a team.

REGISTRATION – END: What is the deadline to register?

Deadline to register is 1 week before event. You must contact Louisville Hoopfest if you register late.

REGISTRATION – END: How do I know my team’s registration is complete?

A confirmation page will display after completion of payment. If you have any more questions, please call 502-994-6343 or email matt@louisvillehoopfestcom.

REGISTRATION – CHECK-IN: Can I call to check in and receive my team’s schedule?

We’re sorry, but MidAmerica Sports Center and Louisville Hoopfest will not accept calls related to game times. Brackets will be posted online the Thursday before event weekend (Every effort will be made so that first game times will not change).

REGISTRATION – CHECK-IN: Who needs to come to the Team Check-in?

All players from each team are required to check-in. Check-In starts (9-10-11) Saturday September 10th @ 9am.

REGISTRATION – SPECIAL REQUEST: Can I request a specific time to play?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this type of request. We may be able to accommodate teams that have football or baseball games the same day of event. Please contact matt@louisvillehoopfest.com if you have a time restraint and special arrangements may be made.

ROSTERS

ROSTER – PLAYERS: How many players can I have on the roster?

Teams can consist of up to 5 players: 3 starters and 2 substitutes. Only 3 players are required to play.

ROSTER – PLAYERS: Can I change my roster after I am registered?

Roster changes must be done by sending us an email with player changes. If there is a major change in playing experience, you may be moved up to a different bracket.

ROSTER – TEAM: Can we change our team name?

Once you register for an event under a team name, we recommend you keep the name. Under special circumstances we might change a team name.

GAME DAY

GAMEDAY – SCHEDULES: Can I call to check my team’s schedule?

Team captain will be called no later than July 09 at 9:00pm with their starting game times. Links to schedules will be posted on the homepage of www.louisvillehoopfest.com Thursday evening before the event.

GAMEDAY – ARRIVAL: What do I need to do after arriving @MidAmerica Sports Center for 1st game?

Players are advised to go to the registration table once they arrive to tournament.

GAMEDAY – ARRIVAL: What do I need for first game?

All you need to bring is your ball game. A concession stand will be open all day for food and drinks

GAMEDAY – GAMES: What happens if we lose 2 or 3 games in a row?

Your not out of the tournament if you lose 2 or 3 games prior to the official tournament game. Your first initial games are for seeding purposes only and only contribute to your overall seed# once tournament play begins. Once seeding games are complete, a single elimination tournament follows. If you lose 1 game you are out of the tournament.

GAMEDAY – GAMES: How many games do we play?

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 scheduled games.

GAMEDAY – GAMES: How is the tournament structureD?

All teams will play at least 2 seeding games. A single elimination tournament will proceed all seeding games.

GAMEDAY – GAMES: How are the games scored?

Playing by ones & twos. A basket is worth 1 point, shots made behind the 3-point line count for 2 points

GAMEDAY – GAMES: How are games won?

Game winning factors:
-First team to 16 by two
-First team to 20 points OR
-Team ahead after 20 minutes, wins. If tied after 20 minutes, next team to score wins. First foul in overtime for either team will result in check ball @ top of key. Second foul will result in a free throw.

GAMEDAY – JERSEYS: Are numbers on jerseys required?

No, but all players must wear similar team shirts (same color) during play, and each team must bring both a light and dark colored shirt. If both teams are wearing the same color, the home team (listed first on the schedule) must change to their alternate shirt/skin.

GAMEDAY – PLAYER RESTRICTIONS: Are there any player restrictions on casts, braces or jewelry?

Athletic trainers and referees must approve players wearing proactive casts (hard casts will not be allowed). Braces with exposed metal will not be allowed. No jewelry will be allowed, including earrings of any type, rope necklaces or bracelets. The only exception will be players wearing medical bracelets.

GENERAL INFORMATION – AWARDS: What do we receive if we win? What are we competing for?

We will take pictures and post winner’s pictures to our website. Depending on how many teams sign up will determine prizes for winners. Winners might get a t-shirt, trophies, shoes, or even money for winning the tournament.

GENERAL INFORMATION – REFUNDS: What is the refund policy?

Entry fees are non-refundable before or after registration deadline. This includes, but is not limited to, cancellations arising from inclement weather, personal scheduling conflicts and inability to make a tournament. In case of inclement weather, the Event Director reserves the right to reduce the number of scheduled games and/or the time of games. GENERAL INFORMATION – INCLEMENT WEATHER: What do we do in case of bad weather?

Rain date is scheduled for Sunday, September 11th. In case of inclement weather, the Event Director reserves the right to reduce the number of scheduled games or play indoor. Every effort will be made to update the web-site to inform teams of what decisions have been made in regards to the tournament. Entry fees are non-refundable.

GENERAL INFORMATION – TENTS & COOLERS: Can I bring my own cooler and tent?

Yes, Players are allowed to bring coolers on-site unless otherwise noted on the event page.
Tents – you can bring your own shade tent as long as it measures 10’ x 10’ or less and does not feature any offensive graphics. All tents and personal belongings must be removed at the end of play. The tournament and their employees are not responsible for any loss or theft that may occur.

GENERAL INFORMATION – PARKING: Will I have to pay for parking?

Parking is determined by the facility and not the tournament director. Currently parking is available in side lot next to MidAmerica Sports Center.

GENERAL INFORMATION – HIRING: How can I get involved with Louisville Hoopfest?

GENERAL INFORMATION: Who can play Hoopfest Basketball?

Louisville Hoopfest is open to players of ALL AGES and skill levels. The ages are set up as follows: Youth 8-17 years old and Adults 18-100 years old.
